And here we are, all settled in. Very little work to do when we got here just over a week ago. A great welcome by our closest neighbours when we arrived late at night and the following night, after a day largely composed of unpacking, we went for dinner with friends down the road – so a great start to what hopefully will be a great summer and thanks to those involved for making us once again feel so welcome.
It has taken me this long to do an update largely because of unpacking, blogging work, minor fixes around the house and unfeasibly nice weather but today, as well and truly predicted by the weather people – it is raining (on and off). Their forecast has been accurate for days and we’re hoping this will continue as they’re predicting clear blue skies and 26c for Monday – I can see a trip to the spa coming along.
Sent off my EOS camera to a friend abroad recently. That was an interesting trip – we went off to the post office in the nearby town of Huescar to post the parcel and when it came to my turn I did my usual pathetic attempt to explain to the postmaster that I needed to send a package overseas. He doesn’t speak a word of English and I speak only a few words of Spanish but we usually manage. In this case an English lady standing behind me decided to step in and help which was nice, but then completely ruined the whole thing by asking me if I spoke Spanish and when I said no, stuck her nose in the air and made a “tut” noise. I can’t tell you now annoying that was but I was too busy concentrating at the job at hand to give her the sharp, witty response she really deserved. It seems no matter where you go there is always someone ready to have an ego trip at your cost.
The place is looking good and I’m looking forward to a summer of photography with my soon-to-arrive new camera. We’re planning trips to various places along the coast as the weather picks up, so many nice places to visit going south and during my recent Spanish trip in January (see this blog) I realise there are lots more as you go north. Lametlla De Mar was nice for walking around.
